'Thank you, I haven't dunked my face in ice water in nearly three hours': Male lifestyle influencer's 5 hour long, 4 AM start morning routine gets mocked by the internet

In the land of content creation, the quotidian is big business. It turns out that many people want nothing more than to watch other people go about their daily lives, or at least what they claim is their daily lives, so long as it is aspirational in some form or another. It also just so happens to be a great way to shoehorn in some not-so-subtle product placement. It's a win for both the influencer and the desperately dopamine-seeking masses.

The thing that conveniently gets skipped over by these kinds of creators and their serious audiences is how unnatural the whole process is. They set up their camera to film themselves pretending to wake up and the day only gets more absurd from there. The upside is that is genre of video has become such a bizarre, self-sustaining ecosystem that the very best of it is the kind of satire comedians could only dream of making.

  • This is what Twitter thought when a TikTok video of one fitness and lifestyle influencer's ridiculous morning routine went mega-viral on the platform. It included such highlights as apparently spending four minutes in mid-air when diving into a pool at 7 AM, an obsession with dunking his face in ice water and rubbing a banana peel all over his face after carefully eating the banana slice by slice. Oh, and of course we can't forget the highly unsubtle advertising for Saratoga bottled water. It has to be seen to be believed, then it's not difficult to understand how fast people started mocking it.

I am a lot more impressed by the dad of 2+ kids, who meal preps on Sunday and gets to the gym 5-6 days a week while working a full-time job.
